WOW! Christmas Party 2006 - FIJI
WOW! Travel has just enjoyed a weekend in FIJI for our 2006 Christmas Party!
All 13 of us flew out on the overnight flight last Friday, arriving early Saturday morning to spend a well earned day and a half at beautiful Sonaisali. As part of the WOW! Travel Christmas Party, we take all 5 children (Lisa & Robyn’s kids) who are between the ages of 10 to 14 years. We surprised the kids when arriving at Melbourne airport for dinner, where we explained that this year we were not just having dinner, we were all off to Fiji for the weekend!
We all enjoyed the 4½hr flight on Air Pacific where a few of us tried to get some much needed shut eye. Upon arriving into Nadi we were met and greeted by the friendly staff of TTC and privately transferred the 25mins to Sonaisali.
The kids were in ore at the fantastic pool area upon arriving at Sonaisali, needless to say the pool was well used and so were the free water sports. The adults enjoyed a heavenly frangipani massage while the kids had to have their hair braided! After many hours by the pool (adults at the pool bar), we then enjoyed a sunset dinner cruise on the catamaran, followed by a secluded dinner on the beach by candle light. The food was to die for, especially the local delicacies.
Next morning we squeezed in some more sun by the pool, before the 4 WOW! Girls left the resort early, (leaving the others to experience the jet skis) to inspect some hotels on Denarau. Firstly we met Sam and were shown the luxurious accommodation and 7 pools at the Hilton. Joel at the Sofitel showed us the very trendy yet extremely comfortable rooms at the Sofitel. We were also amazed by the amount of times that both the kids & adults were enjoying the pool slide! Last but certainly not least, we enjoyed Leba’s hospitality at the Westin. Here we viewed the modern yet traditional feel of the rooms, which include those heavenly beds. We sadly had to be dragged out of the Westin Spa and transferred back to the airport to meet up with partners and kids for the return flight home.
The short but thoroughly enjoyable time spent in Fiji was one that we would highly recommend to all our clients, friends and family. Although there was a coup taking place, it does not affect the Nadi side of the island. The only evidence of this coup was a lone soldier sanding by the side of the road, who was so happy to see us as he frantically waved at us as we passed yelling BULA! The Fijian people are always so friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay as memorable as possible. Many of our clients are repeat guests to the many Fijian resorts and will continue to visit, coup or no coup. We at WOW! Travel would not have risked travelling to a destination that was not safe when we were a group of 13 including young children. We strongly encourage the tourists back to Fiji, as the coup has not effected the tourism of this beautiful holiday destination.

We must say a big Thank You to the following, as they helped to make our Christmas Party unforgettable.
- Air Pacific, for getting us to Fiji
- Islands Escapes for the private transfers with TTC
- WRD for arranging our stay at Sonaisali
- The fantastic staff and especially Patrice & Sally, at Sonaisali. We really appreciate your kind hospitality during our stay. We were all made to feel extremely welcome and although it was only an overnight stay, we were so relaxed it was as if we had stayed for a week!
